Apple released the second security update to OS X Snow Leopard, 10.6.2, with 58 security patches. The first update, in September addressed flaws in Adobe’s Flash Player. The current update fixes vulnerabilities in 37 different components of OS X, such as the Help Viewer, AFP Client, CoreMedia, ImageIO, and QuickTime. Open source components in Mac OS X updated include Fetchmail, OpenLDAP, Apache, IPSec, LibXML, OpenSSH, PHP, RADIUS and Subversion.
The version officially released is Mac OS 10.6.2 Build 10C540. It does not include support for Intel’s Atom, as reported earlier. The good news is that it does include a fix for the famous bug which causes data to be deleted when logging into a guest account.
The OS X 10.6.2 update can be downloaded from Apple, or it can be installed via the OS X Software Update function.
