LG Adds Broadband Internet Link to TV's

Up until now users wanting to stream web videos for places such as YouTube, have had to purchase a separate device such as a DVD player, game console or another set-top box with Internet Access. Now they can purchase a TV from LG Electronics with the feature built right in. The new feature called Broadband HDTV's will come in both LCD and Plasma televisions and should cost between $250 - $300 more for the added feature.

The new Internet enabled TV's will not incorporate a web browser so that you can freely view any pages on the Internet that you want, but instead will have a selected few video sites such as YouTube and Netflix where users can watch free and purchased movies from. Sony's Bravia television line can already access the Internet but you must purchase a separate module to do so. With LG going to the built-in approach, Sony and others will surely follow.
