An unusual promotion is underway with fast-food restaurant, Burger King where if you dump 10 of your Facebook friends you'll get a free Whopper. With the promotion, you must install a Facebook application on your page called 'Whopper Sacrifice' which keeps tracks of all the friends you dump. As you dump a friend it will automatically post with 'Ron has dumped Suzan a friend for a free Whopper'. Once you have sacrificed 10 friends you will be provided with a coupon for a free Whopper.
Burger King has put together a web site, WhopperSacrifice.com which gives users some information on the promotion. Now is the time to put your fair-weather web friendships to the test, outlines the site. Install Whopper Sacrifice on your Facebook profile, and well reward you with a free flame-broiled Whopper when you sacrifice 10 of your friends.
The Whopper Sacrifice site shows that over 51,996 friends have been sacrificed thus far for a free Whopper. I'm sure we will see more and more companies following similar marketing techniques in the future. Taking advantage of large social networking sites such as Facebook is an excellent way of promoting a product if you ask me.
