Voice Controlled Mini Helicopter Unveiled in Japan

Your next RC helicopter might seem futuristic thanks to Japan based toy company Taiyo. On Wednesday they announced in a Tokyo toy forum that their next radio control helicopter will include voice-control, yes you speak and it perform the action. "Radio-control toys haven't changed for long time. We thought it would be fun to give vocal commands instead of hand operations," marketing official Naoaki Koide said.

Users of the mini helicopter will have a remote along with a headset they were to issue five different commands - start engine, up, down, hold and stop. The voice is picked up by the microphone in the headset and then transmitted to the controller box in your hand which then signals to the helicopter to perform the action.

The company is expected to sell over 100,000 units a year and will be priced at 5,229 yen or $58 USD. The helicopter measures 7.2 inches and can fly up to 33 feet away from the remote. It's expected to hit the market by late March according to Taiyo Co.
