Google Launches App Status Dashboard to Keep You Informed

In light of the recent event with Gmail going down for several hours this week, Google has released a new site called, App Status Dashboard. It's a central location to find the status of all their most commonly used apps such as; Gmail, Calendar, Talk, Docs, Sites, Video for Business and more.

When an outage or disruption in service occurs, this dashboard will be updated immediately with information and then finally a link to the resolution and root cause of the outage. I think it's a great way to keep their customers informed in the event of an outage, especially email when it may be the only means of communicating a message to a customer.

In addition to the site, there will also be a RSS Feed becoming avaliable soon on the same page. This is another way to be notified immediately when a status changes for one of the services.
