The rumor mills keep on turning as AT&T might be considering a Trade-In Program for mobile phones, paying anywhere from $50 - $200 bucks - at least that's what the word is on the information superhighway. Apparently you can't just trade-in any old phone, the phone must meet a set of guidelines;
1) The phone may not be older than 2-years old - free of dents and dings as well as in working order.
2) This one most of you will hate, the new phone you trade your old phone in for won't have any subsidies attached. This means you can't get a discount for signing a contract and for "trading a phone in". You get to choose one or the other.
I'm sure as the program is rolled out, there will be even more fine print to go along with the above. Both of the above really don't bother me. I'm sure I could find a couple phones under 2-years old around my house. As for the second guideline, I actually like the idea of NOT signing a long lengthy contract and trading a phone in to bring down the outrageously overpriced phones without contracts.
As always, these are simply rumors floating around - AT&T has not made any official announcement at this time. However, according to the rumors the new program will launch in the May-June timeframe. For now, we wait.
