NVIDIA Releases First Geforce Driver for Windows 7 Beta/RC1

NVIDIA has released the first set of drivers specifically for Geforce and Windows 7 Beta and RC1 owners.

"We expect Windows 7, coupled with NVIDIAs graphics technologies, to deliver the fundamental performance our mutual customers have come to expect. NVIDIAs graphics technologies enable applications to take advantage of the visual capabilities in Windows 7 such as manipulating photos, video, and 3D graphics. With the expertise NVIDIA has in visual computing, they have been a key contributor to the development of Windows 7." said Mike Nash VP of Windows Product Management at Microsoft.

The 181.71 GeForce drivers come in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. Below are some of the features:

  • Installs WDDM v1.0 for GeForce 6 and 7-series DirectX 9 GPUs.
  • Installs WDDM v1.1 for GeForce 8, 9, and 200-series DirectX 10 GPUs.
  • Supports NVIDIA CUDA - Compute Unified Device Architecture.
  • Supports NVIDIA PhysX.
  • Supports NVIDIA SLI on DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and OpenGL applications.
  • Supports Direct3D, Direct2D, and DirectWrite.
