Honda's Musical Highway in Lancaster California

If you live near Lancaster California then you've probably driven on the "The Honda Civic Musical Road" that actually plays "The William Tell Overture" or the Lone Ranger theme.

No, you won't be hearing the song over your speaker system, nor will you have to roll down your windows to hear the music play. Instead, the road has been marked with special grooves that actually plays out the tune as your wheels drive over them.

Honda says that for the best result it should be heard when driving over them with a Honda Civic as Honda made the road tuned specifically to the tires and wheelbase on the Honda Civic. The road was also tuned to play well at 55 MPH, the posted speed limit.

As for the locals that live near the road; they're sick of it. They hear the high pitch tones all day and all night. Many of them say its not a very pretty sound and it wakes them while they are sleeping.
