WolframAlpha, what sounds like a new game is actually a new search tool that has been anticipated for many months now, will be released next week to the public. Created by Stephen Wolfram, the well-known mathematician, allows users to search a "knowledge base" of information. So instead of search for a web page, you'd search or ask questions to receive your information.
Unlike major search engines today that provides 'results' based on indexed or compiled data, Wolfram Alpha can answer questions even if its never been asked before with its artificial intelligence system. You can ask things like "How many hot dogs are eaten in NYC in a year?" and it could provide statistics and information on that query - like in a report format instead of a results format with other search engines.
Wolfram|Alpha is being called a computational knowledge engine because computation is a term used for processing information and it does so like no other search knowledge engine has ever done so before. It's going to be very interesting to see the launch of WolframeAlpha.
WolframAlpha is what Ask.com should have been.
Launching next week, you can begin asking your questions as WolframAlpha.com
