Psystar, the company probably best known for manufacturing Mac clones, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Psystar Corporation, based out of Miami Florida sells 'Open Computers' or their attempt at cloning the Mac. The Mac Clones were announced in April of 2008 with having the option to have Mac OS X leopard pre-installed on them, creating what the Mac community calls hackintoshes.
Apple has already hit Psystar with a lawsuit back in July of 2008 and the case is still being held up in the courts. Apple claims that Pystar is violating the Mac OS X licensing agreement with end users by installing the Apple OS on their systems before users purchase them. Apple also claims that the company was violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
A trial is set to start November 9th 2009 in Apple vs Psystar.
For now, Psystar is still entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Apple is stil suing them, and Psystar is still selling it's Mac Clones on its online web site.
