It's official, the new second generation Microsoft Zune has finally been unveiled! The Microsoft Zune HD comes with a 3.3" 16:9 OLED Display, a 480x272 resolution, HD radio, and has a 720p video-out via HDMI with a docking station.
The new OLED screen looks very vivid, giving users easy multi-touch navigation to their videos, pictures, social networking sites, and more. One of my favorite features has to be the HD Radio Receiver built-in, giving you free access to HD content on the airwaves. You can even "tag songs" that you like so that you can purchase them later.
"The Zune music player is an integral part of the overall Zune experience, and were proud to be growing and extending our offering beyond the device," said Enrique Rodriguez, corporate vice president of the Microsoft TV, Video and Music Business Group. "Delivering on Microsofts connected entertainment vision, this news marks a turning point for Zune as it brings cross-platform experiences and premium video content to living rooms around the world."
There's no word yet on what storage capacities the new Zune HD will be offered in. Some analysts believe it might be available up to 64GB in capacity while others suggest 32GB.
Is it just me or is Microsoft trying to be more Apple-ish with the new Zune HD? I've got to say though, it does look more appealing than the older generation Zune's, that's for sure.
Pricing has not yet been set and the Zune HD will be available this fall.
