Microsoft Bing Rising The Ranks, Google Not Worried!

During an interview yesterday with Fox Business Network, Google's CEO Eric Schmidt said he wasn't concerned with Microsoft's latest attempt at taking over some of the search engine market from Google and Yahoo.

"It's not the first entry for Microsoft. They do this about once a year," said Schmidt commenting about Microsoft's attempt to re-enter the search engine arena with something new and improved.

Bing was launched on June 1st and since has gained 10% in US web searches according to ComScore. The result is probably mostly due to the 100 million dollar Bing ad campaigns and users checking out the new search engine. The real results will come in the upcoming months as users make their choice, to stay with Bing or not to stay.

Google doesn't think Bing poses any significant threat to what they are trying to accomplish by a company.

"I don't think Bing's arrival has changed what we're doing. We are about search, we're about making things enormously successful, by virtue of innovation." Schimdt said.

"Google is about getting all the information and organising it. Yahoo has a different strategy. We think ultimately Bing will evolve to a different strategy as well".

Again, I think once users decide if they want to Bing or not is when we will actually see how much search engine market shares Microsoft poses.
