Microsoft Unveils Windows 7 Pricing Information

Microsoft announced today of the retail pricing for Windows 7, which is set at or below Windows Vista pricing giving consumers that pre-order the new operating system a heavy discount.

Customers that preorder a copy of Windows 7 between June 26th and July 11th will have the opportunity to buy an upgrade copy at the following prices:

Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $49.99
Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $99.99

The Windows 7 Upgrade is only available for users that already have Windows XP or Windows Vista.

You can begin ordering your copy tomorrow from Amazon, Best Buy, Staples, Wal-Mart and other retailers.

"There is a lot of excitement for Windows 7 in the marketplace today. However, many consumers need a new Windows PC for school, work or home before October 22," said Brad Brooks, corporate vice president, "Windows consumer marketing at Microsoft. So starting June 26th, any customer who buys a PC from a participating computer maker or retailer with Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate will also receive an upgrade to the corresponding version of Window 7 at little or no cost."

If you don't pre-order your copy of Windows 7, you'll be looking at paying the following:

Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $199.99
Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade): $219.99

OR for the Full Retail license:

Windows 7 Home Premium (Full): $199.99
Windows 7 Professional (Full): $299.99
Windows 7 Ultimate (Full): $319.99

As you can see, you're getting over 50% discount on the Windows 7 upgrades if you pre-order by July 11th.

Microsoft also said that they will only allow a certain number of these discounted copies to be sold, so jump on them quick if you are interested!

I would recommend heading over to Amazon.com and pre-order there with free shipping!
