Apollo 11 Moon Mission Relaunches Tomorrow Watch It Live

On July 16th, 2009 beginning at 9:32AM ET exactly, the Apollo 11 mission will take off yet again, 40 years later. This time, we have a live reenactment that will take place on WeChooseTheMoon.org where you will experience the full mission from launching with the Saturn V to never before seen footage of Neil Armstrong stepping on the moon!

The remake of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing will feature 11 stages of the mission; including a countdown timer to the launch, mission control updates, live broadcast radio communications and more. You can also follow the mission on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets. Be sure to watch the mission over the next several days and you will hear "The Eagle Has Landed" as the Eagle Lunar Module lands on the Moon for a second time.

If you're a history buff and want to get a piece of the history from the same day of the Apollo 11 launch, then you might want to bid on a check written that day by Neil Armstrong. RR auction is auctioning off a $10.50 check that was payable to NASA official, Harold Collins on the day of the Apollo 11 launch, July 16th, 1969. Armstrong had previously borrowed the $10.50 from Collins and wanted to repay the loan on launch day in the event something happened to him during the mission. When Armstrong gave Collins the check he said "Here's a check for the loan.. but don't cash it because I will be coming back.".

The auctioned off check is currently at $17,122 with 28 bids, a bit too rich for my blood but is definitely a nice time piece to get a hold of. It includes a plaque with a picture of Armstrong suiting up and a little story behind the check.
