The rumors keep on coming in and this time, the Financial Times has 'confirmed' that the new Apple Tablet already in development will be released in September, just in time for the yearly September iPod announcements that Apple makes every year.
The device which was once thought to have a 9-inch screen could now possibly have up to a 10-inch viewable touchscreen. FT says that it will NOT have cellular connectivity which is actually something I thought it would have but it will have WiFi capabilities so accessing the iTunes stores via a WiFi Hot Spot is definitely on the plate.
FT also reports that book publishers have also been in talks with Apple, so an Apple eBook Store is definitely a possibility as well and why wouldn't they? I just hope Apple gives the Apple Tablet enough juice to run for several hours before the battery drains. If they can do that, then Amazon's Kindle could be at jeopardy.
What good is a new device without a new digital format? What I am talking about is Apple's new 'interactive digital albums' that it plans to announce with the Apple Tablet, something that could revolutionize the way we interact with our music.
The new digital album format, codenamed Cocktail, will deliver consumers with not only the music they want but more information about the music than ever before. Think about playing your favorite song but as the song is playing, you have immediate access to the song lyrics, photos of the band making the song in the recording studio, music notes, music videos and clips, and much more.
It's definitely an interesting timing for all of this and really makes us think that the Apple Tablet is very near to a release, possibly even September as FT states. Pricing for the new Apple Tablet is still speculative at this time. I would say that it would cost around $699 - $799.
