Google Caffeine Search Engine Unveiled

Google has released its latest incarnation of Google Search (codenamed 'Caffeine') which will provide users with many new improvements such as; Lightning fast searches, better accuracy with search terms, and a quadrupled index size!

We played around with the new Caffeine Engine and found the speed to be anywhere from half as fast to two times as fast with returning results compared to the current search engine. For example, the search term "techfragments" took 0.08 seconds on the New Google Search Engine while on the Old Google Search Engine it took 0.12 seconds.

The relevancy of the new engine is subjective and its hard to say if the new engine is any better than the old engine when searching for the same content on both. However, one interesting fact I found is that when I search for Tech Fragments on the old engine, our homepage was not the top result but with the Google Caffeine engine it was. This alone makes me think that the new engine may in fact produce better results, and results that you want.

When it comes down to the amount of pages that Google has indexed, it's the largest and it's gotten even larger with the new engine! New Google gives us 2.7 billion results for "Yahoo" while the old one only gives 2.3 billion. That's a BIG increase!
