Apple Tablet Confirmed For September Release?

The rumors keep on coming in and this time, the Financial Times has 'confirmed' that the new Apple Tablet already in development will be released in September, just in time for the yearly September iPod announcements that Apple makes every year.

The device which was once thought to have a 9-inch screen could now possibly have up to a 10-inch viewable touchscreen. FT says that it will NOT have cellular connectivity which is actually something I thought it would have but it will have WiFi capabilities so accessing the iTunes stores via a WiFi Hot Spot is definitely on the plate.Read more

Apple Sold 5.2 Million iPhones Last Quarter

Today Apple reported its third quarter financial results with the world which beat expectations. Apple sold more than $8 billion in sales and compared to a year ago, it increased by 12 percent. They also made a quarterly profit of $1.23 billion up by $400 million from the year before.

Apple said it is struggling to keep up with the sales demand of the new iPhone 3GS and said it had sold over 5.2 million iPhones in its third quarter alone, an increase of over 600% compared to the same time last year.

"Were making our most innovative products ever and our customers are responding," said Steve Jobs, Apples CEO. "Were thrilled to have sold over 5.2 million iPhones during the quarter and users have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications from our App Store in its first year."Read more

Toshiba Joins Blu-Ray Player Market Finally

After many years of backing HD-DVD, Toshiba will now finally throw in the towel and create a Blu-ray Disc player. Toshiba was one of the primary companies that backed the HD DVD format while Sony was the major backer of the Blu-ray format. The winner, mostly because of demand for PS3's and the larger storage format was Blu-ray which ended the battle between the two formats. HD-DVD has since fallen to the waist side like that of Beta Max and other formats that lost in the media wars.Read more
