EA Sports Says NHL 16 To Be Exclusive To PS4 And Xbox One

EA Sports today released the first details on their yearly hockey sim game. NHL 16 details announced included the release date window, game modes and features for this year’s offering.

NHL 16’s release date has been given a launch window for September 2015. EA Sport’s Madden games usually come out in October, so an early September release date for NHL 16 makes sense.

This year, EA Sports is highlighting the Team concept. From the press release:

“Team has been the heart of hockey for as long as it’s existed, and this year it’s at the heart of NHL 16. We looked to our biggest fans and asked them to be a part of our team. Their most requested features and modes are in the game and include new experiences that make NHL bigger and better. On the ice, team carries through to our gameplay, with innovation and balance at every position, so that each role is meaningful to play. In NHL 16, success is a total team effort, the result of everyone understanding that you never do it alone. You have to play as a team and win as a team.”

The bigger news is that Xbox 360 fans will not be getting NHL 16 on their platform this year. Instead, EA will bring them NHL Legacy Edition, a sort of a greatist hits package game which includes authentic schedules and updated rosters.

EA Sports also touted the realease of an official Ask NHL site for fans to chat with the developers of the game, get the details on their favorite features, and learn more about NHL 16 and other EA SPORTS NHL games.
